It takes 60 to 90 days from the moment of listing a home to the moment of handing over the keys. Homes that sell in May, June, and July probably went on the market in March, April, and May. The closing date shows the summer months, but the actual offer is made in spring. Why is spring so active? It’s simple human nature. With warmer weather, more people are interested in moving. We’re done hunkering down for winter. We want to be in our new homes over the summer. Home sellers who are ready to list in March, April, and May will take advantage of those feelings. They’ll get competing offers. They’ll be able to select the best qualified buyers. They’ll have time to plan and arrange their own move for mid to late summer.
