Your role model can be feature in our Father’s Day June edition. Click on the video below to learn how. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! Typically, Mothers put everything and everyone before themselves including their own health. This month, put yourself FIRST. Start with scheduling a complete diagnostic checkup with your physician. If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, don’t forget to ask for a GFR test. GFR test measures your kidney function. In this Mother’s Day edition, we at Henry Watts Real Estate & Life Style magazine urge all mothers to take care of their selves – call your physician and schedule a complete physical that includes bloodwork, urine analysis, etc. A malfunctioning kidney could lead to dialysis and/or a kidney transplant. John McAllister’s article and video discuss the impact your kidney has on your overall health, GFR test, and what happens if your kidney is malfunctioning. In order to take care of your family, you must take care of yourself. A courageous attorney, Steve Bartley, reveals his journey of being homeless with social and psychological ramifications that he experienced. Part 1 and 2 of his video is shocking and reveals the chaotic and sometimes humiliating challenges the unsheltered endure. Although, I used the word “homeless” in the first sentence above, I preferred the term unsheltered because the word “homeless” invokes negativity such as lazy, filthy and mentally challenged for everyone that is unsheltered. In a “blink of an eye”, your life can change and you, too, could become unsheltered. Steve Bartley’s story exemplifies this. His challenges included serious illness, loss of law practice, living in a shelter and finally rebounding to a permanent home. Steve’s life is a cautionary tale for all of us. His two-part series is engrossing and worthy of your viewing time. This edition includes Part 1. Part 2 will be showcased in our next edition. Mark Brevard, Director of Multicultural Community Outreach at New England Donor Services has graciously provided another brilliant and informative article entitled “Transplant Donation Myths”. His article is clear and concise. I am certain that you or someone you know can identify with those myths. Discard the myths about transplant donation. Maybe, you can save a life. After reading Mark’s enlightening article, our editorial staff decided that it was befitting to rerun John McAlister’s article and video about his experience as a person in need of a kidney transplant and the importance of donating organs. Are you considering buying a home? If so, you must have the down payment and closing cost. Our article entitled “Getting Serious about Saving for a Down Payment” provides tips on how to get started. If you are 65 or older, beware that discrimination does exist while seeking a mortgage. Read our article entitled “Can lenders refuse our refinance if we’re over 65?” There are more articles. Take your time and chose what is of interest to you from our wide variety. Always remember “HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB” and “KINDNESS IS INTENTIONAL.
