Dr. Charles A. West bio
Dr. Charles A. West is nationally recognized as a catalyst for community economic optimization. He does this as a teacher, entrepreneur, writer, consultant and mentor. Dr. West earned a B.A. from Morehouse College, M.B.A. from Atlanta University and Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the Union Institute. He works tirelessly to find new ways and opportunities for those interested in self-employment.
Dr. West is the author/coauthor of five books all dedicated to enhancing economic development in local communities. Each one addresses a specific challenge and some of them have been used to teach and train practitioners and students. Someone one said West’s books address contemporary business problems like community development, bonding and the 7 Secrets of the Gig Gurus: A ToolKit for the Freelance Gig Economy, his current work.
Dr. West has led major firms in New York and Atlanta. In New York he led First Harlem Management Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Harlem Securities, a member of the New York Stock Exchange. In Atlanta, he led, NDI, Inc. one of the first groups to employ an acquisition strategy by acquiring 23 Blockbuster Video Stores, 4 Checkers and 13 Mrs. Winner’s Chicken.
