Welcome to our 28th edition of Henry Watts Real Estate & Lifestyle Magazine. Pride Month has come to an end. Despite last month’s celebration, it is our hope that you continue to be kind and loving to everyone without conditions In this edition, we interviewed Yusef Salaam, the exonerated Central Park rapist. Yusef said that all of his experiences stemming from the trial and guilty verdict as a rapist, his imprisonment and life today was GOD’s plan. His interview revealed his psychological revelations and his life’s purpose. Admittedly, as the interviewer, I was truly surprised that Yusef was not BITTER. If I had the same experience, I am not sure that I could say the same. OK, maybe, I need therapy. BREAKING NEWS! On June 28, 2023 Yusef Salaam was the primary winner in NYC 9th City Council District. In advance of the primary and before this edition was published, I forwarded the interview to Yusef’s campaign office to be posted in Yusef’s website. Also, Lola Waterman won judicial primary for Civil Court Judge. We interviewed Ms. Waterman for our March 2023 and April 2023 editions. She articulated why all citizens should participate in elections for judges. Our drinking water along with climate change are truly 21st century issues that may impact our existence as humans. Clean drinking water without contaminants is so important for our health, we felt it was necessary to reissue Part 1 of Professor Lall’s interview alongside newly released Part 2. Dr. Upmanu Lall, a renowned water specialist, is the Director of the Columbia Water Center and the Alan and Carol Silberstein Professor of Engineering. After viewing his interviews, you will never drink water from your faucet again (especially without a filter). I know I won’t. New York City (NYC) Voucher System was designed to assist unsheltered people to find homes is BROKEN. A mere bandage will not help. Without a doubt, NYC implementation of the system needs to be “trashed”. You, our informed readership, is aware that many hard-working people in the United States cannot afford housing. Voucher Systems across the United States are supposed to be a life line to find a home. It’s not working; the system is broken. This edition provides solutions for New York City’s Voucher System. The article is called Unsheltered NYC. We believe that implementation of our suggestions, (as highlighted in our video), for overhauling how unsheltered people find homes will have national impact. At the end of the video, please show your support by signing the petition click here. You have decided to sell your home. How do you decide how much to sell your home for – the Listing Price? Ultimately, the listing price must bring offers and make sense to the appraiser who is appointed by the bank (if the buyer is seeking a mortgage). If the appraisal is lower than the listing price, the bank will not approve the mortgage loan. To educate yourself, this is a must-read article. The article entitled “Could You Afford to Rent for Life” should actually be entitled “You Cannot Afford to Rent for Life”. If you can afford to buy, as a Certified Public Accountant and Real Estate Broker, I strongly urge you to buy. This article highlights the pros and cons for both buying and renting. Lease Like a Prenuptial is an article that is landlord focused. Landlords should think of their lease as a Prenuptial agreement. If the relationship ends badly, your lease should protect you. Renters should also read this article. Other articles include “Home Search Platforms”, “These Fixes Are a Waste…. “and “Flipping Real Estate…” See you next month. Always remember “HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB” and “KINDNESS IS INTENTIONAL.
